The methods for collection of judgments are discussed in more detail in other volumes. Any Baltimore personal injury lawyer will tell you the availability, and amount, of insurance is perhaps the single most important factor is assessing the value of a case. What if there is none, or not much? The halls of Baltimore courthouses are filled with Baltimore personalinjury lawyers who've obtained massive, but uncollected, judgments for the victims of Baltimore car and automobile accidents. These judgments are uncollected because the defendant was uninsured, or had very little insurance.
HURRICANE IRENE DAMAGE LAWYER
I handled hundreds of hurricane property damage cases in Florida in the aftermath of the 2004 and 2005 hurricanes there- ranging from a few hundred dollars for a downed tree to a few million dollars for massive damage to multiphase condominium associations

HOW MUCH IS MY BALTIMORE PERSONAL INJURY CASE WORTH? Are there other intentional torts?
Personal injury attorneys in Baltimore have brought lawsuits for so called 'intentional torts', like civil assault, or civil battery. The intentional tort of false imprisonment [and the related action of false arrest] are other lawsuits that are occasionally filed in Baltimore. Seasoned personal injury attorneys in Baltimore know that the existence of "probable cause" to detain another is an often stated defense to a charge of false imprisonment. We've discussed in other chapters that an act of negligence-e.g. the act that causes a Baltimore car accident- is a tort, or a tortious act. A false imprisonment occurs when one's freedom of movement is restrained against their will. One falsely imprisoned may recover damages.

Evacuation Expenses
The Insurance Information Institute is on record as saying that homeowner's policies will generally reimburse you for mandatory evacuation expenses. Insurance policies can be hard to figure out. You may want to consult a hurricane damage lawyer for coverage questions.

Scammers and Gougers
Watch out for scammers and gougers. Would you pay 2,000 for a 400 watt generator? If you had been without power for a week, you may consider it. Would you pay $2,000 for a repair that should only cost $400. Would you know the difference? Price gouging is illegal in most states. Some unscrupulous contractors out there feast on innocent victims in the wake of Hurricane Irene. Reputable contractors have a home improvement, roofing, or other appropriate license from the state. The license number should be displayed on their vehicles, contract and other information you're given. If you feel you're pressured into signing a contract, insist on time for an experienced Maryland Hurricane Damage Attorney to review what you are being asked to sign. Your contractor should be licensed, bonded, insured, and ideally, should be recommended by a friend or trusted acquaintance. Don't pay the entire quote up front. 25% is standard.

Hurrican Irene- Some preliminary numbers
It's far to early to say with any certainty the ultimate dollar value assigned to Irene's wrath. Preliminary estimates range from 3 billion on the low end to 14 billion on the other. 12 deaths have been confirmed.
